Director of Youth Ministries (Part Time)
- $15 - $17 an hour
- Up to 30 hours a week
Peace Tree United Methodist Church is looking for a part-time youth director to work with students from 6th through 12th grade. This position will report to the lead pastor and work with the church staff as well as Safe Sanctuary-trained volunteers in leading a ministry that provides education in faith as well as spiritual growth.
- Organize and play a leadership role in youth programs.
- At least one weekly meeting (outside of PTUMC Sunday programming)
- At least a monthly service ministry
- Plan for annual confirmation class, including seasonal weekend retreats (specifically for confirmands and generally for all youth) at Lakeshore Camp & Retreat Center.
- Work with lead pastor to select and develop curriculum.
- Recruit and train volunteers and church staff to serve as chaperones, teachers, mentors, and other roles needed within the youth program.
- Maintain direct lines of communication with staff, volunteers, and families—providing venues for constructive feedback, maintaining confidentiality with integrity, and resolving conflict in a manner that fosters trust and confidence in the youth ministry and its staff.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for all youth in accordance with the church’s Safe Sanctuary policy.
- Build authentic and Christ-centered relationships with youth and families that model and foster life-long faith.
- Disciple and mentor youth in developing their leadership skills and spiritual gifts.
- Care for youth and families in pastoral care situations.
- Work with members of the church staff to execute the vision and goals of the ministry including planning for outreach programs and community events.
- Participate in appropriate committee and staff meetings.
- Create and distribute timely communications to youth and their families including Youth newsletter, website, social media accounts, etc.
- Connect with local schools and community organizations, for example: attend school lunches, extracurricular events etc.
- Ensure that a first-time visitor follow-up process is in place.
- Other assigned responsibilities as directed by the lead pastor.

Nursery Worker
Primary Function and Scope of Position:
Part time position that provides quality childcare in a safe, clean, caring environment that reflects the love of Christ for children ages newborn through three years old. Regular schedule is 2.5 hours on Sunday mornings each week (nominal 8:45 – 11:15 a.m.) with additional hours scheduled as needed. Nursery workers may be scheduled in rotation with other nursery workers. The position reports to the Children’s Director and Lead Pastor.

- Provide age-appropriate care for children including, but not limited to: feeding, changing diapers, reading stories, rocking, and supervising and engaging in safe play as appropriate.
- Ensure that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the nursery is appropriately maintained.
- At the end of each work shift, ensure that nursery area is returned to “ready to use” standards.
- Ensure that children are checked-in each week and are kept in the nursery rooms until checked-out by the designated responsible adult.
- Communicate appropriate information to parents regarding changes in guidelines, procedures and requirements.
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, volunteers, and staff.
- Inform Children’s Director, Pastor, or Leadership Team member of any inappropriate behavior by a child, parent, volunteer, or staff member.
- Follow Peace Tree UMC Safe Sanctuary policy and procedures.
- Follow Peace Tree UMC childcare and nursery procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experienced in the care of young children, with the ability to adapt and interact positively with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to perform the physical activities required in childcare: kneeling, bending, lifting (40 lbs), holding, carrying, rocking.
