Director of Children's Ministry
The Director of Peace Tree United Methodist Church’s Children’s Ministry will embrace the congregation’s Mission Statement by providing a safe and secure environment for all children (birth to 5th grade) and their families by working alongside committed church staff and gifted volunteers.

Description and Responsibilities:
- Plan and resource curriculum making sure it is relevant to our students and appropriate for their grade/age levels.
- Prepare weekly Children’s Church (Peace Tree Kids) lessons and activities each Sunday with at least the appropriate number of Safe Sanctuary-trained volunteers.
- Ensure volunteers have access to lesson plans and feel comfortable leading Peace Tree Kids on Sundays the Director will not be at church.
- Coordinate and help organize Family Fun Nights (e.g. Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Sunday after worship, etc.) on a monthly basis.
- Implement an effective communication strategy among parents, staff, and congregation.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of Children’s activity bulletin for Large Group Worship each Sunday.
- Lead a Children’s Sermon during Large Group Worship on the last Sunday of each month.
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer staff for Peace Tree Kids Ministry.
- Organize additional Safe Sanctuary-trained adults to be in the classroom(s) each week in accordance with church policy.
- Work with the Church Business Administrator to ensure all volunteers are current with their Safe Sanctuary Training and background checks.
- Make purchases as needed to maintain supplies required for all Peace Tree Kids classrooms & events and turn in receipts to the Church Business Administrator.
- Coordinates cleaning of Peace Tree Kids classrooms and the sanitation of items in accordance with church health and safety protocols.
- Order First Bibles for elementary students.
- Assist in planning church-wide events as it pertains to children & families such as Blessing of the Backpacks, Back-to-School Picnic, Trunk or Treat, Carols & Candlelight, etc.
- Schedule at least two nursery workers for each church service (and more as needed to comply with church Safe Sanctuary policy). This may include extra services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.

Nursery Worker
Primary Function and Scope of Position:
Part time position that provides quality childcare in a safe, clean, caring environment that reflects the love of Christ for children ages newborn through three years old. Regular schedule is 2 hours on Sunday mornings each week (nominal 9:15 – 11:15 a.m.) with additional hours scheduled as needed. Nursery workers may be scheduled in rotation with other nursery workers. The position reports to the Children’s Director and Pastor and will work in conjunction with the Nursery Coordinator.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Provide age-appropriate care for children including, but not limited to: feeding, changing diapers, reading stories, rocking, and supervising and engaging in safe play as appropriate
- Ensure that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the nursery is appropriately maintained
- At the end of each work shift, ensure that nursery area is returned to “ready to use” standards
- Ensure that children are checked-in each week and are kept in the nursery rooms until checked-out by the designated responsible adult
- Communicate appropriate information to parents regarding changes in guidelines, procedures and requirements
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, volunteers, and staff
- Inform Children’s Director, Pastor, or Leadership Team member of any inappropriate behavior by a child, parent, volunteer, or staff member
- Follow Peace Tree UMC Safe Sanctuary policy and procedures
- Follow Peace Tree UMC childcare and nursery procedures and guidelines
Qualifications:
- Experienced in the care of young children, with the ability to adapt and interact positively with a variety of personalities
- Ability to perform the physical activities required in childcare: kneeling, bending, lifting (40 lbs), holding, carrying, rocking
- Must be a minimum of 22 years old in accordance with Peace Tree UMC Safe Sanctuary Policy
- Must submit to background check
