Savior | Lent 2021

Have you ever asked, "Why did Jesus have to die? How does Jesus save us? Did God plan the death of Jesus?" During the season of Lent, we'll be taking a closer look at Jesus' death and learning how his sacrifice impacted the whole of human history.

Join us online every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. CT as we learn about different atonement theories.  Savior: What the Bible Says About the Cross by Magrey deVega is serving as our companion study for this series. #ChurchCanHappenAnywhere

Christmas Eve 2020

Jesus Christ is born in Bethlehem! When we consider all of the unexpected events of 2020, we may begin to understand the unexpected journey that Mary & Joseph took from engagement to pregnancy to marriage as well as their physical journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem.

What can the shepherds teach us about joy, grace, and the possibilities within God's unexpected plans? And what can we learn about God's character? #ChurchCanHappenAnywhere

Spiritual

This November, we hosted a three-week series in order to take a closer look at some lesser-known Spiritual practices: Confession, Generosity, and Celebration.

What does it mean to be both religious and spiritual, and how can these practices help deepen our relationship with God while strengthening our fellowship with others? Join us Sundays at 10:00 a.m. CT from YouTube, Facebook Live, and the home page of our church website. #ChurchCanHappenAnywhere

Through the Storm

This year's laity month sermon series included church members and friends of Peace Tree who shared stories of hope and perseverance. Each week we heard how God showed up in the midst of personal storms to provide and guide each speaker in profound and powerful ways.

Guest speakers included Nathan & Sarah Herr, Jaime Yanes,  Letitia Sutherlen, and Rev. Amanda Crice with members of the UT-Martin Wesley Foundation worship team.

All You Can

We spent 3 weeks in September discussing money and the ways in which John Wesley and the early Methodists talked about earning, saving, and giving.

With an economy that's been impacted by Covid-19, friends who have been affected by furloughs and firings, and a church family that continues to grow into the future, this was the best time to discover what the Bible has to say about our relationship with money.

Tailgate Sunday 2020

Labor Day weekend has traditionally been the start of the college football season, but due to the global pandemic, college athletics looks drastically different this year.

We still wanted to celebrate our love of sports and the way we can tie its lessons to the lessons we gain from the Bible. So we gathered some friends for a roundtable discussion, we polled our church family to see what their favorite teams, leagues, and tailgate dishes were, and we held our 4th Annual Tailgate Sunday.

Picture

Justice For All

During the month of August, we took a closer look at passages of Scripture found within Proverbs and several of the Old Testament prophets which highlight God's Justice. What types of injustices did God's people experience? How did the prophets speak judgment, and how did the people of Israel respond?

After journeying through these passages together, we'll ask how to best apply the lessons from Micah, Amos, Isaiah, and Proverbs to our present-day reality.

Picture

Golden Cross Sunday 2020
